RAWLINSON, ANNEMARIE: MORE INFO

A native of Austria, Annemarie Rawlinson spent many years traveling the world; she settled in Los Angeles in 1978.

In 1986 she graduated in Fine Arts "Magna cum Laude" from El Camino College and studied Assemblage with Sarah Perry at Otis Art Institute.

Rawlinson was instrumental in bringing the art enrichment program "Art to Grow On" to San Pedro. Later, she designed art projects for children and held workshops for Art Enrichment Groups in the South Bay. She has also trained with Dr. Lauren Artress as a Labyrinth Facilitator and has installed numerous labyrinths in public and private locations.

"Katharsis", a series of assemblages that evoke her youth in war-torn Austria, premiered at the Municipal Art Gallery in her birth town St. Poelten, in 2002. Later this exhibit traveled to Melk/Danube.

 In 1994 Rawlinson founded the L.A. Assemblage Group (www.la-assemblagegroup.org) which currently has 16 members. The group meets once a month to network and showcase their assemblages throughout California.

Rawlinson was one of ten artists to participate in an International Art Colony in Macedonia in 2003. Her work is in the permanent collection of Art Colony Galichnik. The following year she volunteered to organize an Art Exchange with ten Macedonian artists, under the auspices of Angels Gate Cultural Center.

An award-winning artist, Rawlinson works out of her studio at the "Loft" in San Pedro. Her work can be found in public and private collections in the US and in Europe. She has been featured in "The Art of Layering: Making Connections" and "Visual Journeys,  Art of the 21st Century",  both publications of the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media.
